Within metalworking, the MIG and MAG processes are just as common as the tungsten inert gas process or the E-hand solution.

But which welding process is suitable for which situation and are there processes that are not recommended for certain metals? We will get to the bottom of these questions in more detail in the latest article.

Welding speed as an important indicator

Do you want to complete an order and time is an important factor? In this case, it is recommended to use MIG or MAG welding. Both processes score with high welding speed and are made if you want to speed up the production process.

It should be noted, however, that not every component is suitable for fast processing. In view of the high speed and the much more economical work, it is possible to achieve higher quantities.

However, this more effective approach also ensures that the heat-affected zone on the component is often somewhat lower. So if you want to produce parts for a machine or other materials, it is recommended: See whether the quality of the material is suitable for this processing method.

Of course, you can also use the other methods – but if speed is important, these two types of welding are the right choice.

The welding environment is crucial for the choice

Another factor in determining the right welding process is that you need to pay attention to the welding environment.

If you want to work in enclosed spaces, you are most likely to use MIG, MAG or TIG welding. The situation is different if you want to do welding work outdoors.

In this case, it is recommended to choose e-manual welding as the method.

How important is the seam to you?

Another important point that decides on the right procedure is the seam. This is referred to as the seam optics, but also the quality. Do you attach importance to visible seams and these must not have any blemishes? Then the TIG process is the perfect solution for your needs.

Alternatively, it is also possible to use manual welding. Here, however, you have to make sure that you use the optimal type of electrode.

However, if the quality of the seam is more important, you can also use MIG or MAG welding for machining in addition to the TIG process, Welding Process.
